Our new menu is here!

Greetings All!

Our new menu has rolled out as of the 18^th.  As some of you have noticed, a few favorites from the previous menu remain. Among the newbies you’ll want to try are the 3 Crostinis and the Teriyaki Thai pepper hot wings. The crostini is a hearty vegetarian sampling. The wings are for those who think buffalo wings are not hot enough.

As a side note, we are now burning Oak in our pizza oven. (Finally, Real Wood!!). Try the BBQ Chicken pizza with one of our new brews.

If you’re in the mood for beer, every Thursday is now Pint Night. So far, we’ve brought Fat Tire and Lagunitas in the house– Anchor Steam will be joining us toward the end of the month. If you have any suggestions, let us know. We also have added Firestone Double Barrel Ale, another great beer paired with the BBQ Chicken Pizza.

New Year’s Plans

The end of the year is just around the corner, and what better way to spend it than getting lost at the beach (City Beach, that is)? With a special drink in hand and your loved one by your side, ring in the New Year with us! We’ll be open regular hours and ready to make the night one you’ll never forget.  Champagne will be flowing, music will be going, our bartender Chad will be rocking behind the bar and our fabulous serving staff (and myself included) will keep the floor entertained all night long.

And if you have New Year’s Eve plans?  No worries!  Join us on New Year’s Day for UFC 125 RESOLUTION. Start 2011 off right and watch Gary Maynard fight to keep his title against Franki Edgar in the Lightweight rematch that everyone will be talking about for the rest of the year. Doors open for sitting at 6pm and there will be a ten dollar ($10) cover for this event.  And our Family Fun Night will be going strong as well, with extended hours from 3pm to 9pm, so bring the family along (if you want to, that is).

Bringing in the new…

Seasons greetings and happy holidays!

I trust that everyone is having a grand time this season.

Has everyone had a chance to try our BAREFOOT COFFEE?  Quite good and even better with Irish whiskey. Something else that might take the chill off is our spicy Italian sausage pizza. Now that we have white oak burning in our pizza oven, our pizzas are that much better.

In other new item news, we are rolling out a new sauce for our wings, Thai pepper teriyaki, that should provide a little more heat for those of you who are spice challenged.  I just heard that our new menus will be in early next week from the printers, so look for it after the New Year.  Anyone have suggestions for a special sandwich for January? I was thinking sausage and peppers on a toasted roll with sweet potato fries.

And if you’re not feeling that hungry, remember these words by baseball great Yogi Berra:

“Better cut the pizza in four pieces because I’m not hungry enough to eat six.”

New Coffee in the House

Greetings All.

Get ready for some FANTASTIC COFFEE in the house. Barefoot Coffee of San Jose will be caffeinating our team starting the first week of December. These guys have some serious coffee.  It’s roasted daily less than 20 miles away from us, but the beans are seasoned travelers.  Barefoot Coffee goes direct to South America to meet the farmers and hand pick their beans. This is not your standard coffee. A hot, steamy cup of this joe has layers of flavor and great aromas (not to mention, it goes great with any number of good liquors. We will be offering their fabulous “nectar” by the first week of December. Check them out at http://www.barefootcoffee.com.

Our new menu will be rolling out the same week, so there will be lots of tasty bites to go with your holiday cheer.  We went heavy on the appetizer scene, but don’t worry…some of our old favorites are still with us. Come on in and check it out.

Our banquet team is gearing up for a very busy holiday season. Lots of good smells coming out of our kitchen: slow roasting prime rib, smoked turkeys, simmering tomato soup, and the pizza oven is cranking. We are going to be trying out some new woods for the oven, I’m thinking apple or red oak to start.

Holiday Inspired Cocktails

The holidays are here, and our bartenders are up to the challenge.  They’ve been whipping up some yummy drinks to keep you warm inside when it’s cold outside. Kimberley, one of our mixology experts, presented us with a fabulous Pumpkin Pie Martini.  This yummy drink includes a blend of vanilla vodka, pumpkin liquor, and creamer and it’s topped off with whipped cream and surrounded by a sugar-coated rim. who could ask for a better Thanksgiving treat.  Paired with our new Sweet Potato Fries, who could ask for a better Thanksgiving treat?

If a bit of minty spice is your thing, our lead bartender Chad has chosen a delightful Cinnamon Peppermint Martini.  This contains Rumplminze, Goldschlager, Vanilla vodka, and a splash of grenadine.  The glass is lavishly dunked in a crushed candy cane rim.  Ordered with our Lava Flow, a molten cake covered in our special fudge sauce and topped with vanilla ice cream, this combination is the perfect end to the night.  A combination like this could make you want Christmas year round.

As for me, I have fallen in love with Kimberley’s creation: the Eggnog Martini. A splash of Goldschlager’s is added to vanilla vodka, eggnog and creamer, then topped with whipped cream and sprinkled with Nutmeg. I am in holiday heaven. For me, nothing is better than eggnog with a great blend of alcohol to make it through a nice night by our patio fire pit. So the next time you stop in please request one of these awesome drinks and share a little holiday spirit with us.

Go, Giants!

And the Giants win the pennant! Yes ladies and gentlemen, our beloved bay area ballers are going to the World Series! The City Beach restaurant was packed to the brim on Saturday night as we watched our boys take down the Phillies. Our restaurant has become Giants central for Fremont and surrounding residents. The energy has been just amazing every night as we support our team during this very exciting time, especially this past Saturday when we had our usual pay per view UFC audience in the house cheering on the team as well. It was electric!

Come join us through the World Series as we watch our guys make Bay Area history and bring home our first World Champions title! And don’t forget our NFL Ticket Sundays with every NFL game every Sunday. City Beach, it’s a great place to be.

A Big Shout-Out

This past week the City Beach kitchen was put to the test.  We had over 1,000 people feasting in our house. We would like to give a huge shout-out to the mighty Gerardo, Maria and, Maria for their stellar performance under pressure. You would have thought there were only 3 people eating the operation was so smooth. We would also be remiss if I didn’t mention USFoods Distributor for their partnership with us in this event. They loaned us a refrigerator trailer to hold product.  There are some good people over there.  Thank you for taking the time out to read our blog and we will blog you soon.

The Drawing Board

It’s that time again, time for another update.  After much work, thought, planning, and scheming I do believe we have set forth a path that will be spectacular. The food offerings will be vast and unique, the flavors fresh, clean, and enjoyable. My poor wife has had to read each draft of the menu and suffer as I work out some dishes in our home kitchen. It’s definitely been a stretch well beyond my comfort zone, which is a true blessing for any chef, to get to learn and explore something new. Our basic tenets still hold true, we are guided by the principles of sustainability and global awareness. I’m talking to local farmers about using locally grown produce and herbs. All meat, pork, and chicken are from humane companies and all employees are fed and watered daily. At this point I don’t have a definitive date as to when this exciting new adventure will launch, but not too long.

NFL Sunday is here!! For the first one I’ll be cooking breakfast al a carte, then depending on the outcome, going to a buffet. Coming from a long career in hotels, I know a thing or three about breakfast buffets so some good stuff will be featured there.

HELLO FOOTBALL FANS!

Hello FOOTBALL FANS! With week one finally here, we are ready to kick off our NFL SUNDAY TICKET party. To show you our love of the game we’ve got tons of new things this year that will keep you guys coming back week after week. If you hit the early games grab a Bloody Mary and try the new breakfast menu that Chef Keith’s got cooking up. During Half Times we’re going to test your football skills and give you a chance to win some awesome prizes. For the kid in all of us or even just for the kids, we are bringing out Xbox 360 game stations featuring Madden 11 to get you in that competitive mode. To top it off we are offering Drink Specials all day long. 

So come on down and support your favorite team. The City Beach Sand Bar will be bringing in fans from all over the Bay Area to make this season an event that no one will forget.

A Few Words

Hi Gang,

Chef Keith, the Food Guru here, how are you? Me? Well, I’ve survived 2 weeks with this amazing group of guys and gals. In the past week a lot has happened. The highlight had to be the appreciation party for our Rock Gym members. It was a feast!  I made: black bean cakes with tomato lime jam, Chai Tea caviar, mango cabbage slaw with chicken in a onion papaya marmalade topped with curry tomato foam, pumpkin ginger fritters, sweet corn fritters, and a filo topped apple crisp. All of these items were made from scratch using the freshest ingredients. I am getting really excited for the change over of our restaurant, the concept of “Beach Fusion”, and sharing the experience with the family is really taking on a life of it’s own. However, I am getting some complaints from folks about the items I’m creating….they taste too good so they are eating too much. Not a bad thing if I do say so!! Any questions or feedback anyone would like to give, please feel free, i’d love to hear from you! Be well, and remember ‘Food is Life, Life is Food, Respect it!”
